According to ancient legend, Mount Sapo is the birthplace of soap. Ash and oils from sacrificed animals wash down and combine into the Tiber River. There the soapy mixture is found to be useful for washing skin, clothing, etc....

Soap, as we know it, has certainly gone through many changes since that day in Ancient Rome long, long ago. Changes including the use of petroleum by-products in what is commonly known as soap today.
